The University of Essex was established in 1963. Unlike most English universities, it has one main campus located in Wivenhoe Park, in Colchester, England. There is also a well-known acting school (East 15 Acting School), located in Loughton, which is also affiliated with the university. There are approximately 11,000 students (8,000 undergraduates) who attend the University of Essex yearly.
